KOLKATA. Security personnel of South Eastern Railway has provided security related assistance to the travelling passengers by way of All India Security Help Line, escorting of ladies compartment, surveillance through CCTV cameras, escorting of reserved coaches in Mail/Express trains during night journeys, surprise security checks both at stations and in running trains etc.
Toll Free Security Helpline 182 has been set up to provide round the clock security assistance to the passengers during train travels. Another security help line i.e. 1800111322 is also functioning from Railway Board, New Delhi to render security related assistance to the travelling passengers. As many as 225 complaints were received and attended through security help lines over S E Railway in the fiscal 2017-18 and all were disposed of by SER’s RPF personnel.
Altogether 47759 Mail/Express trains were escorted by RPF personnel during 2017-18 all over the jurisdiction of S E Railway. This apart, 15576 trains were also escorted by Mahila Bahini (Lady RPF Personnel) in the fiscal 2017-18 for security of the lady passengers.
There are presently 538 CCTV cameras at 22 important stations for round the clock surveillance to check incidents of crime against passengers. This includes 11 stations where CCTV cameras have been provided under an integrated security system. 158 CCTV cameras have been installed at 10 Maoist affected stations. 33 stations have also been further identified to provide Integrated Emergency Response Management System against Nirbhaya Fund.
SER’s Protection Force has been toiling 24×7 to secure the railway in every possible manner for ensuring smooth movement of passenger carrying trains and freight trains. RPF personnel are well coordinated with the sister departments of railways, GRP, District Police and Civil Administration for well secured train travel.
